  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add chopped apples, light brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, water, and salt. Cook for about 5–7 minutes until apples soften slightly. Remove from heat.
  2. Make the Oatmeal Base: In a large bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Assemble the Bars: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Press half of the oatmeal mixture into a greased baking dish. Spread the apple filling over this layer and sprinkle with the remaining oatmeal mixture.
  4. Bake: Bake for about 50 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool before slicing into bars.
