  • 1 box (15oz) white or vanilla cake mix
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherry juice
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon pure almond extract (or vanilla)
  • 1 1/4 cups mini chocolate chips
  • 10 chopped maraschino cherries
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 container (8 ounces) Cool Whip

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, milk, vegetable oil, cherry juice, egg whites, and almond extract. Mix until smooth.
  3. Toss mini chocolate chips with flour in a separate bowl to coat; then fold half into the batter.
  4. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan; sprinkle with half of the chocolate chips. Add remaining batter and top with remaining chips.
  5. Bake for about 22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cool slightly and poke holes throughout the cake using a toothpick or skewer. Pour sweetened condensed milk over it evenly.
  7. Once cooled completely, spread Cool Whip on top and garnish with chopped cherries.
