  • 6 day-old croissants
  • 9 ounces dark chocolate (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup salted butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cups almond flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter with sugar until blended; mix in almond flour, then add water and extracts until smooth.
  3. Whisk together egg, egg yolk, vanilla and almond extracts, and milk in another bowl.
  4. Slice each croissant horizontally but not all the way through and fill with the almond mixture and chopped chocolate.
  5. Brush tops with egg wash, place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serve warm.
