Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium firm apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, Fuji, or Gala)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (or coconut oil for a vegan option)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (or coconut sugar/brown sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash the apples thoroughly, then core and cut them into fry shapes about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Pat the apple fries dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and salt.
  5. Toss the apple fries in the mixture until evenly coated.
  6. Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15-25 minutes until tender and slightly golden brown. Check for doneness around the 15-minute mark.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
