Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large ripe bananas, mashed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Whisk in melted butter until combined. Add brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract; mix well until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until evenly mixed.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the banana mixture, stirring gently until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat together cream cheese, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together remaining granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for sprinkling later on top of your batter.
  7. Pour half of the banana bread batter into your prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over this layer. Gently spread cream cheese filling on top.
  8. Add remaining banana bread batter over cream cheese layer evenly. Sprinkle remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture on top; use a knife to gently swirl it into the batter.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean (a little cream cheese on it is okay).
  10. Let cool in pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing into lovely pieces of banana goodness.
