Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound linguine
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook linguine in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season with basil, salt, and pepper. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Melt remaining butter in the skillet. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the onion mixture and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth and slightly thickened.
  5. Add cream cheese, Velveeta cheese, and Parmesan cheese to the skillet. Stir until melted and the sauce becomes velvety.
  6. Return ground beef and cooked linguine to the skillet. Toss everything together to coat evenly in the creamy Velveeta sauce.
  7. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until heated through. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
