Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs and Dijon mustard, and one with crushed pretzels mixed with garlic powder and smoked paprika.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly with the pretzel mixture.
  5. Place the coated chicken on the prepared baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown.
  7. For added crispiness, briefly pan-fry in a skillet if desired.
  8. For the sauce, melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, gradually add milk, then stir in mustards and cheddar until melted. Season to taste.
