  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar (packed light or dark)
  • 3 Large ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 2 Large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup Sour cream (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus a little extra to go on top of batter)
  • 1/4 cup Mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×5 loaf pan with non-stick baking spray and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a small bowl, mash the ripe bananas using a fork or potato masher.
  4. In another medium bowl, whisk melted butter and brown sugar until thick. Stir in mashed bananas, sour cream, and vanilla until well combined.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined; fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top if desired.
  7. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
